Healthy Families

Healthy Families is California state program which provides health care coverage for uninsured children who are not eligible for Medi-Cal and meet residency, specific income and family status requirements.

At A Glance

Healthy Families is low cost insurance for children and teens that provides health, dental and vision coverage to children who do not have insurance, do not qualify for free Medi-Cal and whose families earn up to 250% of the federal poverty level ($57,625 for a family of 4).

The cost of premiums range from $4 to $24 per child per month, up to a maximum of $72/month, depending on family size, income and choice of health plan.

In San Diego County, there are five health plans to choose from:  Community Health Group (community plan), Anthem Blue Cross, HealthNet, Kaiser Permanente and Molina Healthcare.
