Options and Resources
This section provides basic information for individuals and families and business about the private and public coverage options available today. Once the Affordable Care Act (ACA) is fully implemented, there will be greater access and choice for coverage, as described under Health Reform Information .
At a Glance
The information on current coverage is divided in three sections:
- Individuals and Families: Includes information about private health insurance and how to select the best plan for you, continuing coverage through COBRA from the employee’s point of view, coverage for those with pre-existing conditions and Medicare.
- Business: Includes information about Employer Sponsored Health Insurance for sole proprietors, small (2-50) and large businesses, continuing coverage through COBRA and Early Retirees
- Public Programs: Includes programs provided by the State and the County for qualifying individuals and families such as Medi-Cal, Healthy Families, County Low Income Health Program and others
